Barbara F. Hughes, daughter of artists Max and Ava Fernekes, is well known for her woodcuts and serigraphs. Barbara concentrates on animals, people and insects, portraying them in a colorful, whimsical way.

She has a B.A. in Art from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where Barbara studied printmaking with the late Alfred Sessler and Dean Meeker.

Barbara has been exhibiting at the major Wisconsin art fairs since 1960 and has had several one-woman shows throughout the state.

She is the wife of attorney David J. Hughes and mother of two sons.
